Mental Health Awareness Week 9 May - 15 May 2022

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, an annual event created by the Mental Health Foundation to promote a focus on good mental health.

At Barton Legal, we’re using this week as an opportunity to raise awareness of mental health difficulties while doing some activities to help take care of our mental health. Planned activities include a team coffee break (with homemade cake and biscuits!) and an afternoon walk in the park.

Looking after our staff and their mental health is a very important part of the culture we embody and that drives our dynamic team spirit.

As part of the week’s activities Chloe McAlister (Business Support) is taking part in Mind in Bradford’s ‘Carry the Burden’ Challenge, in which she will be carrying an item to represent the invisible burden that those of us with mental health problems can carry every single day.

For 24 hours she will be carrying round an old kettle to represent this burden and to bring awareness to the silent struggle so many of us go through with our mental health, while raising funds for Mind in Bradford and the vital work they do in our local community,

When asked why she was taking part in the challenge, Chloe said “Mental health difficulties can affect anybody and often these issues are invisible to those around us. I have struggled with my own mental health and understand first-hand how difficult it can be to carry this round while going about daily life.”
